Doctoral Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering

Total number of hours required for doctoral degree is 90 hours above the B.S. degree with the following requirements:

  • at least 9 hours course work in the major area of concentration
  • at least 9 hours graduate level math and/or physics
  • at least 9 hours graduate level ECE technical electives
  • at least half the course work (not including dissertation credits) must be ECE, Computer Science or TCOM courses
  • At least 30 credit hours dissertation research
  • 9 hours maximum credit allowed for ECE 5990 – Special Studies
  • 12 hours maximum credit allowed for ECE 5973 - Special Topics in Electrical Engineering and 12 hours for ECE 6973 - Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering
  • 12 hours maximum credit allowed for ECE 5283 – Special Topics in Digital Signal/Image Processing and 12 hours for ECE 6283 – Advanced Topics in Digital Signal/Image Processing

Other restrictions apply, and the student's doctoral committee sets the specific program of study.
