Matthew H. Kane received a B.S. from Rice University in 1996, M.S. from Northwestern University in 1997, and Ph. D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2007, all in the field of Materials Science and Engineering.
From 1997 to 2002, he served in the United States Navy as a Submarine Warfare Officer. A native Oklahoman, Dr. Kane joined the ECE faculty at the University of Oklahoma in 2007. His research focuses on the development of advanced materials for electronic, optoelectronic, and spintronic device applications. As the advent of enhanced functionalities in next-generation electronics often entails materials-related challenges, his work focuses on exploring the fundamental structure-property-processing relationships in novel materials systems using a variety of growth and characterization techniques.
He is a member of the Materials Research Society (MRS), the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
