Computer Engineering
ECE/CS Electives
CpE students may select courses totaling 6 credit hours from non-required ECE or CS upper division (3xxx or higher) courses. ECE policy is to not permit undergraduates to enroll in graduate (5xxx or 6xxx) courses unless they have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. Student selections of ECE and CS Electives must satisfy a minimum depth credit requirement of 1.5 hours. The list on the back of this form identifies the depth credit portions of regularly offered ECE electives approved for this degree. CS courses do not include ABET approved depth credits.
Professional Electives
Students with appropriate prerequisites may select courses totaling 3 credit hours from the following:
- Any of the Math courses from the following list: MATH 4163, 3333, 4103, 4323, 4373, or 4773 (provided prerequisites are met). MATH 4753 is not allowed because of the significant overlap with ENGR 3293.
- Physics (PHYS) 3223, 3803.
- ENGL 3153, Mgt 3013. MIS courses are not allowed because they typically include significant amounts of introductory level computer material.
- Upper division lecture courses in other engineering areas are generally acceptable, with adviser pre-approval.
- All non-required ECE courses numbered 3xxx or higher. See ECE Electives paragraph, above, for graduate course restriction.
Gen Ed Electives
Each of the four Gen Ed electives must be selected from specific lists of suitable courses available on the web at www.ou.edu/admrec/gened.htm. One of these four courses must be upper division. Gen Ed questions should be addressed to staff advisers in the Williams Student Service Center.
